If you're anything like us,

this week's news of retightening restrictions

came as a bit of a blow and reminder

that we're likely still a ways off

from a return to anything

resembling "normalcy"

in our day-to-day lives.

But against that backdrop of frustration and disappointment

we've been reminded

that God is still in control

and very much on the move.

During the past week alone

at Saddleback Lake Forest

we:
Hosted one of the largest CLASS gatherings of the year

(during which 6 people gave their lives to Jesus!)

Celebrated 18 changed lives through baptism

as part of our 3rd socially distanced baptism event

Welcomed over 120 college students

for our first ever Car Camp

Heard great stories

about the way our Saddleback Kids "Let's Do This!" summer event

and drive thru has lifted the spirits of our kids

Hosted High School students

for impactful (and socially distanced) HSM Summer Nights

Fed hundreds of families

and celebrated life-changing decisions to follow Jesus

at our Food Bank
Just to name a few.

Seeing His hand at work

reminds us of God's words to the people of Israel

during a crisis they were living through

in their time:

"Forget the former things;

do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up;

do you not perceive it?

I am making

a way in the wilderness

and streams in the wasteland." --

Isaiah 43:18-19

God is doing something new,

something important,

here in our time.

That doesn't mean

it's always easy

or without it's challenges,

which is why we continue to support one another

through our CR groups

and Hope for Mental Health communities

and continue to serve our church and community

through our grocery distribution events.

in the midst of struggles

with anxiety and depression,

a safe place for anyone living with

or affected by mental illness.

This month we will hear

from Pastor Scott Sauls,

who will share about the anxiety and depression

he has experienced,

and ways for you

to find freedom from fear.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis,

you have helped provide

over 1.5 million meals

to 220,000 people.

to begin a relationship with Jesus

We know

that God isn't done yet,

Celebrate Recovery On-Campus Groups
Every Friday evening | 7:00-8:00 PM

If you are looking for healing

from any hurts, habits, or hangups,

you are invited to join us

on campus for Celebrate Recovery.

There are gender specific open share groups

that will meet outside,

with chairs six feet apart

and all participants are required to wear masks

at all times.

Community is crucial

in recovery and healing,

and we have ensured all CDC guidelines are in place

as you embark

on your recovery journey.
