February 25, 2021 Lake Forest Campus Updates Dear David,
Reflecting on a life well-lived can powerfully shape our lives and decisions today. During this past year, many of us have experienced the loss of someone we know and love. These are moments to reflect, take notes, and learn from the examples of others. This week, we unexpectedly lost a giant of the faith: Pastor John Baker, a pastor, mentor, and elder at Saddleback Church for decades and co-founder of Celebrate Recovery®.
Celebrate Recovery was created from Pastor John's own experience of recovery, and it has helped millions of people around the world heal from their hurts, habits, and hang-ups. When reflecting on the life of this spiritual giant, this verse comes to mind: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you" Isaiah 26:3 (NIV).
So, how do we keep our minds steadfast? Having a steadfast mind requires faithfulness and is about regularly remembering why God put you here. It comes from the ongoing practice of talking with God about what priorities are shaping your decisions. It is about standing on the unshakable foundation of God's Word and God's purposes for our lives.
Praying perfect peace over you,
The Lake Forest Staff Team
